However, the report said Manila Police District (MPD) head Chief Supt. Roberto Rosales refused to name the witness pending an investigation into the crime. Dalaig, head of the legal department of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) was shot dead on a busy street in Manila’s Ermita district last Saturday. Initial investigation showed Dalaig succumbed to a cal-.45 bullet that entered his chest, ripped through his heart and exited through the shoulder. Earlier in the day, Rosales said investigators have secured two witnesses in Dalaig’s killing. He said one of the witnesses was particularly promising and might help them identify the Comelec official's killers. "Ang nakuhang witness baka sakali ma-identify ang people katabi niya... Meron kaming kinukuhang statement pero di pwede i-divulge sa publiko (One of the witnesses may help us trace who were with Dalaig before he was killed. We are now getting a statement but we cannot divulge the contents of that statement for now)," Rosales said. Rosales, however, admitted the information provided by the second witness was virtually useless. "Ang isa nagsabi talagang nakita niya lang ito nakahandusay di na kumikilos. Wala kaming nakuhang ibang info sa batang 'yan (The other witness just said he saw nothing but Dalaig lying motionless on the ground after the shots were heard. We could not get any information from the second witness)," he said. - GMANews.TV
