Senate President Manuel Villar Jr has signed a subpoena to formally summon former elections commissioner Virgilio Garcillano to attend the reinvestigation of the "Hello, Garci" controversy on Friday, radio dzBB reported Tuesday afternoon.

DzBB said Villar signed a "subpoena ad testificandum" that will be sent to RER Subdivision in Cagayan De Oro City, the last known address of Garcillano. The report said Friday's inquiry at the upper chamber will start at 10 a.m.
Eddie Tamundong, legal counsel of Garcillano, told GMANews.TV on Tuesday that the former Comelec official will attend the hearing "if the subpoena is properly served to him."

He said he had not yet talked with Garcillano about the reinvestigation. He, however, said that he sees "no particular purpose in the inquiry unless the Senate finds out who are the wiretappers" of "Hello, Garci" conversations.

Tamundong said Garcillano is now in his farmhouse in Baungon, Bukidnon. - GMANews.TV
