In a statement, Lambino said he accepted the Banat nomination consistent with his desire to campaign for greater autonomy and the decentralization of governance. He said that his campaign for Banat is a takeoff from his success in the Supreme Court which had ruled that the enabling law - Republic Act 6735 - for people’s initiative is adequate and sufficient to make the necessary charter changes. Lambino said he is confident that the many groups that gathered more than 6.3 million verified signatures for his charter change campaign would support Banat in the coming elections. In explaining his acceptance to join the party-list campaign, Lambino said “I enjoy going to the basic issues that would end the country’s enslavement to poverty and corruption that run away at resources that would otherwise been used to advance the people’s interest." - GMANews.TV
