The National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) on Friday deferred the tabulation of the questionable certificate of canvass from Maguindanao.

The NBOC opened the ballot boxes containing the Maguindanao COC despite protests from representatives from opposition candidates. NBOC Chairman Benjamin Abalos, however, immediately stopped the tallying after noting that many candidates received zero vote.

Abalos’ action also came after Maguindanao Board of Canvassers chairman Lintang Bedol admitted that no opposition representatives were present during the provincial tally.

He scheduled the canvassing of Maguindanao COV Wednesday next week.

The poll chief also ordered all parties to produce their statement of votes by municipality and by precinct "so that it could be revisited with the interested parties."

This was the second time the tabulating of the Maguindanao COC did not push through amid questions on the authenticity of the poll documents raised by the counsels of the opposition senatorial candidates.

Earlier NBOC denied the petition filed by opposition senatorial candidate Aquilino Pimentel III to defer with the tabulation of Maguindanao COC. - GMANews.TV
