The Comelec’s special board of canvassers (SBOC) for Maguindanao revealed Monday that Bedol did not submit the statements of votes and other supporting documents to back the COC from the province. The SBOC, headed by lawyer Emilio Santos, reset the canvassing of Maguindanao votes to Wednesday afternoon, saying that they have nothing to canvass without the associated documents. When asked by lawyers of Genuine Opposition senatorial candidates lawyers why the documents were not submitted, Santos said they did not know and that they would have to wait until Wednesday. The administration’s Team Unity recorded a controversial 12-0 sweep in Maguindanao, with 19 of 37 senatorial bets – including several leading opposition candidates – not getting a single vote in the entire province of about 200,000 voters. The National Board of Canvassers set aside canvassing of Maguindanao votes over discrepancies in the COC. Opposition lawyers have sought the exclusion of the Maguindanao COC due to alleged fraud but the National Board of Canvassers (NBC), headed by Comelec Chairman Benjamin Abalos, ruled for the setting aside of the COC and re-canvassing of votes. GO lawyer Sixto Brillantes told the NBC that they should not expect the documents to arrive by Wednesday. "If it did not arrive in two weeks, they cannot produce it in two days time," Brillantes said. -GMANews.TV
